Spreading the word about Faiths Act in Toronto
After a month of intense learning in London, we are now back in Toronto and excited to put all of our learning into action! Our priority this month is to make our presence known at the University of Toronto campus, so we dive right into spreading the word about Faiths Act.
At the start of the week we reached out to key student leaders from faith or social action related groups to establish relationships that will be helpful throughout the year. We also attended many orientation events to promote our cause to the student body at large. Our effort seems to have been successful as we have compiled a few sign-up pages of people interested in Faiths Act. Student group leaders also responded positively by agreeing to meet to further discuss collaboration.
The week ended off with an insightful and enriching presentation on the challenges in global maternal and child health by Professor Zulfiqar Bhutta at Sick Kids Hospital. Leaving with more knowledge on the issues we are working to combat and based on the positive responses we have been able to generate in just one week, we are encouraged and excited to get the ball rolling and kick start the year.
