Former Faiths Act Fellows bring their multi-faith message to the World Youth Congress in Instanbul

Posted by admin on Tue, 31/08/2010 - 11:52am

Former Faiths Act Fellows at The World Youth Congress in IstanbulIn early August, four former Faiths Act Fellows, Sara Eftekhar, Jem Jebbia, Randa Kuziez, and Miranda Rosenberg, presented a workshop entitled "Lessons I Learned in Africa: Multifaith action and asset-based solutions to our communities' hardest problems" at the 2010 World Youth Congress in Istanbul. The Congress brought together 1400 young activists, educators, and journalists from over 140 countries for a 2 week summit on the Millennium Development Goals, Climate Change, and how young people under 35 can work together to change the world and end global poverty.

"There is so much passion here. Passion to make our communities better. Passion to never give up in what can seem to be a never-ending fight. It is that passion that will ultimately bring an end to global poverty," says Fellow Miranda Rosenberg.

Over the course of the 2 weeks, the Fellows exchanged ideas with other activists, exhibited the Faiths Act program at the Congress's Expo, and partook in a variety of service projects with other delegates from across the globe.

Faiths Act Fellow Randa Kuziez was asked to make the closing remarks for the Congress. She stressed that we continue our activism with the theme of the Congress-the Turkish word "imece"-meaning social collaboration for the common good.
