'On 21 February 2011, Farhat Zafar arranged a SolidariTea in her house in Islamabad, Pakistan. Those who came were women from different walks of life. They were professors, doctors, gallery owners, entrepreneurs, architects and students. We talked about how faith can mobilize us to work towards a common good, which is to eradicate poverty around the world. At the end each one of us shared our opinions on what inspires us to commit ourselves towards works of charity. The host, Farhat Zafar, who is also an artist, talked about art and its universal language which can transcend all boundaries and barriers. She donated a painting and a lottery was held to raise money for a charitable cause.
In total we raised amount of, $107. In commemoration of the upcoming International Womens Day (March 8th) and to show solidarity towards a cause working to empower women the money was donated to Project Muso Ladamunen (Project for the Empowered Woman) working in Mali. One of the guests acquainted with the region talked about numerous health challenges related to poverty and malnutrition faced by Mali. A faculty member of a local university and a student further committed themselves to hold such meetings and gatherings in their workplace and promote the message of ‘faith in action.’
